FAQ
About Our Pieces
Where do your stones come from?
Every stone in our collection is sourced from Tokyo's gem markets and trading ateliers. Japan has maintained one of the world's most rigorous traditions of stone handling, and Tokyo's wholesale gem trade reflects that. We attend these markets in person and select each stone by hand, evaluating color, clarity, inclusions, and character before anything enters our catalog.
Who makes your jewelry?
Our pieces are finished by Japanese artisans. Japan's craft culture, particularly in metalwork and stone setting, reflects a discipline that treats patience as part of the process. Settings are made to hold the stone in a way that does not compete with it. We do not use mass production facilities.
Are the stones natural?
Yes. All stones in our catalog are natural unless explicitly noted otherwise. We do not carry synthetic stones or lab-created substitutes. Treatment status (heating, filling, and similar enhancements) is disclosed on individual product pages where applicable.
How are your pieces different from what I would find in a retail jewelry store?
The primary differences are provenance depth and pricing. Retail jewelry carries margin for the manufacturer, the importer, the wholesaler, and the retailer. We compress that chain entirely. What you pay reflects the actual cost of the stone, the craft, and a reasonable margin for us, not four layers of intermediary markup. On the provenance side, we know where every stone came from and can speak to that directly.
Sizing and Fit
How do I find my ring size?
We recommend using a ring sizer (a small plastic tool available at most jewelry supply shops or printable from several free online resources). If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up for comfort, particularly for wider bands. For help selecting your size, email us before purchasing at hello@lunailum.com.
Do you offer resizing?
We do not currently offer in-house resizing. Most local jewelers can resize natural stone rings, though some stone types (particularly softer or more fragile stones) require extra care. We will note any sizing limitations on individual product pages.
Orders and Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal. All transactions are processed in US dollars. Your financial institution handles any currency conversion.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Contact us immediately at hello@lunailum.com if you need to modify or cancel an order. Orders that have already been handed to the carrier cannot be cancelled or modified. We process orders quickly, so the sooner you reach out, the better.
Do you offer custom orders?
We accept a limited number of custom requests each season, typically involving specific stone selections or slight setting modifications. Custom orders require a deposit, have longer lead times, and are not eligible for return. Email us to discuss your request before placing any order.
Shipping
How long will my order take to arrive?
All orders ship from Japan. Typical delivery to the United States is 7 to 14 business days after dispatch. Add 2 to 4 business days for order processing. Full details are on our Shipping page.
Will I owe customs fees?
Customers outside Japan are responsible for any import duties, taxes, or brokerage fees charged by their country's customs authorities. We mark packages accurately and cannot predict or waive customs charges.
Returns and Care
What is your return policy?
We accept returns on unworn items in original condition within 30 days of purchase. A non-refundable processing fee of approximately 11% applies to all refunds. Full details are on our Returns page.
How should I care for my piece?
Natural stones and precious metals require some attention to stay beautiful. The short version: keep pieces away from harsh chemicals, store them individually to avoid scratching, and remove them before swimming, bathing, or vigorous activity. Full care guidance is on our Care page.
Authenticity
How do I know what I receive is what you describe?
We stand behind every description we publish. If you have any doubt about a piece after receiving it, contact us. We will address your concern directly. In cases where a piece does not match its description, we will cover all costs for a return and provide a full refund, including the processing fee.
